How to take screenshots on macs
On Monday, November 24, 2008
After I switched from Windows to Apple’s Mac OS X almost two years, one of the first things I discovered was how cool the Mac’s were for taking screenshots.
If you want to know how to take screenshots on Macs, this is for you…
There are two types of screenshots you can take on the Mac:
- A Full Screenshot of everything you see on your screen, and
- A Selected Area Screenshot in which you select the area of the screen you want.
The keyboard shortcuts are:
Command + Shift + 3 – Full Screen Screenshot
Command + Shift + 4 – Selected Area Screenshot
The screenshot will be dumped to your Desktop and named “Picture X” (X representing a number).
By default, the file is saved in the PNG picture format. However, if you want to change it, read my blog entry “Changing Mac OS Screenshot file format“.
Enjoy!
